White Lights Media has developed from a Powerlifting photography company shooting local British Powerlifting competitions in 2017, to an all encompassing media company, providing photography, videography and livestreaming services to lifters around the world. 

Our Journey 

In December 2017, White Lights Media began offering lifters at divisional British events the opportunity to purchase photos of themselves on competition day. Founded by Powerlifters with a passion for the sport, there was a clear need for lifters to have access to professional media to showcase their success. At the time, only a handful of people were photographing Powerlifting events around the world professionally. 

In early 2018, we became the first Powerlifting media company to record handheld footage of all lifters at competitions and offer this as a service, which we deemed “Premium Videos.” To this day, very few Powerlifting media companies offer this kind of product as an option to all lifters without pre-order, something we’re very proud to be able to provide! 

Later in 2018, we attended our first IPF and EPF events: the Arnold Classic Europe in Spain (September), the World Equipped Championships in Sweden (November) and the European Classic Championships (December). We also became the official media provider for British Powerlifting. 

The team started to grow, and in 2019 we covered our first World Classic Championships. We expanded our scope, covering events with the Canadian Powerlifting Union and the Irish Powerlifting Federation too. 

With COVID putting a stop to Powerlifting events in 2020 and 2021, the company took a backseat, but as soon as competitions resumed, so did we. 

In 2022 we began Livestreaming national competitions in Britain, becoming one of the first Powerlifting streams to include roaming camera footage. We also welcomed a new team across the pond in White Lights Media France, covering the major French local and national competitions. 

In 2023, we began working with the USAPL, streaming their four-platform events: our biggest challenge to date, with all four platforms having three static cameras and roaming footage. We also hosted our first competition, the White Lights Media Championships, which we aim to run annually with the goal of offering a professional competition experience to lifters of all abilities. We began posting more YouTube content, professional highlight videos of the biggest battles and performances on the world stage. 

This year, we’re set to continue improving our services, cover more events, post more long form videos on YouTube, and host the British Open Classic Championships. 

Six years since beginning our journey, our goals remain the same: to provide athletes with high quality media, to help the growth of the sport, and produce professional media of the top athletes.
